Where does my pet go on the plane?
Your pet will be kept in a separate area in the hold of the plane. This area is pressurised and temperature controlled and a night light may be available. Your pet will be in his/hers crate with an absorbent Snug Rug and constant access to water.
Can you collect my pet from my house?
Yes we can. Let us know when you request a quote that you would like us to do this, and we will add this to the quote and arrange it for you.
Can I sedate my pet before the flight?
You will not be able to sedate your pet for the flight as it is considered unsafe.
Will my pet have food and water on the flight?
Your pet will not be fed during the flight as we do not want them to have to sit with mess in their crate, but they will have constant access to water.
Do I have to be on the same flight?
In general, you do not have to be on the same flight, however according to some country regulations this could be a possibility, but very rare.
Can I use my own crate?
You may use your own crate as long as it conforms to the IATA regulations as given below on this page. The box must be sturdy and have metal fixings with ventilation on 4 sides. If you are unsure if your crate is okay, check with us and we will advise. We supply wooden and plastic crates if required.
How old does my pet need to be to travel?
This is dependant on both country and airline regulations. The absolute minimum age is 10 weeks, but other countries do have different regulations which could mean a pet is nearly a year old before it can travel.
Does my pet have to be vaccinated to travel?
This again is dependant on country regulations, however to stay at our kennels or cattery, your pet must be vaccinated.
Where do I go when I collect my pet from the airport?
Typically, you’ll collect your pet from the cargo terminal of the destination airport. It’s advisable to confirm this with the airline when they provide the ‘OK to Forward’ notification. An ‘OK to Forward’ notification is when the airline contacts you to confirm that you can collect your pet when the flight arrives. Your customs clearance agent at the destination will also be able to assist you.
Does your quote include all costs?
Our quote includes most costs however there may be a few extra costs that we do not cover. This can include but is not limited to: treatments and examinations at your vets, import permits, quarantine, handling and customs charges at the destination.
Does my pet have to board overnight?
We need your pet with us the day before (or sometimes longer depending on country requirements) to check the travelling crate and complete any remaining paper work. Your pet does not necessarily have to then stay overnight with us, but it does make it easier than travelling back to us the next day to get your pet to us at the early hours for its flight.
Do I have to use your vet?
You’re not obligated to use our vet. If you opt for your own, please send us copies of all paperwork promptly so we can verify its accuracy. We usually need original copies of all health certificates at least 24 hours before the flight. We strongly advise that all original health related paperwork travels with your pet.
Why is my pet’s flight so expensive?
Unfortunately, animal’s flights are more expensive than human flights. This is due to the increased number of staff needed to ensure the safety of your pet, and also that the price is determined by the size of your pet. There are additional handling and customs charges too.
Can I put my pet under my seat on the plane?
This is not normally an option unless your pet’s container is below 8″ tall. This would be booked through excess baggage, and you would book your pet on your own ticket, instead of us booking your pet’s flight for you.
Do I have to use a customs clearance broker at the destination?
At some destinations this is mandatory. We always recommend that you use a customs clearance broker as it helps to ensure a seamless collection process at the destination. We have many contacts across the world that we can recommend to you.
